Selectmen agree on narrative evaluation process for town administrator

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of March 16, 2026

Webster's Board of Selectmen agreed on a new evaluation process for Town Administrator Richard LaFond. Rather than using numerical scores, board members will provide narrative comments on LaFond's performance under a revised evaluation form covering competencies and charter responsibilities, including union negotiations and his role as administrative liaison between the Board and department heads. Assistant Town Administrator Courtney Friedland will synthesize the comments into a summary document tracking goals over time.

Board members are due to submit feedback by the end of May's third week, with a full evaluation discussion scheduled for the last week of May.
