WEBSTER — The Water Sewer Commission unanimously approved accessory dwelling unit policies for water and sewer regulations at its June 4 meeting. Tighe & Bond presented a Water Management Act grant study showing Webster exceeded its 1.34 million gallon daily withdrawal limit for four years but achieved compliance through leak repairs and a meter replacement program. Consultants Jessica Cajigas-Smith and Joshua Bouchard proposed a four-tier rate structure with 80 percent usage-based revenue to encourage conservation, pending board approval in April 2027.
The commission received notice of a 73 percent sludge disposal cost increase effective July due to capacity constraints at the Woonsocket facility. The commission unanimously denied a plumber cost abatement at 29 Union Point Road while approving a partial sewer abatement at 16 North Main Street.
