Webster approves $69.1M budget and new UAS regulations

Webster voters approve $69.1 million FY27 budget and comprehensive drone regulations. The General Fund omnibus budget of $69,123,869 passed 107 yes to 34 no votes, funded through property tax, state aid, and $1.3 million in free cash to reduce the tax rate, while the sewer and water enterprise funds approved separately total $9.6 million. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems bylaw passed 127 yes to 17 no votes, establishing restrictions on drone takeoff and landing within 250 feet of open-air facilities and critical infrastructure while granting law enforcement authority to order immediate landing of suspected violations.

Voters rejected a proposal to replace the elected town clerk with an appointed position, passing over the article 131 yes to 9 no votes.
