WEBSTER — The Webster Planning Board approved a special permit letting Commerce Insurance remove pavement and build a landscaped courtyard at its Gore Road campus. Engineer David Robinson of Allen & Major Associates said the project will cut parking by 213 stalls, "about 11 percent of the total parking on site," while still exceeding the 431 stalls required for 609 employees. Separately, the board closed but did not decide a contested special permit for a roadside sign sought by Webster Cannabis Company, with member Jason Piader saying he supports "one location or the other, one sign" rather than two freestanding signs.
Owner Gary Baldiga argued cannabis businesses face unusually strict advertising limits. The board also continued a special permit hearing for 15 Lakeview Road to June 29 and approved two Lakeside Avenue lot divisions.
